Did a show for a company chinese new year dinner event this evening at clarke quay. Shanghai themed dance and we got to wear cheongsams!!!
It turned out to be a very eventful evening because as with all shows....there will ALWAYS be bloopers.
We had to quick change into 4 outfits within a span of 20mins and the first incident was of the "slippery bra strap". Had to put on a corset and my bra strap underneath kept slipping off half way through the dance. Got a little distracted and messed up 4 counts. :P
The umbrella prop used for another dance gave me much to worry about as well because it felt like it would break into two and fly off stage to poke someone in the eye every time i swung it! Still had to keep smiling demurely throughout haha.
Winner of the night for me came during the very last finale item when chairs needed to be brought in for a small segment. The chairs had to be put further back stage as compared to past rehearsals and kept behind the curtains. So when it was time to bring them out, there was a slight rush to place them in time and as I turned to put the chair down, the wooden board acting as the seat of the chair flew out and landed off stage with a very LOUD BANG that actually had some of the audience gasping and some laughing...It was very lucky that no audience were standing at front of stage.....*i think it quite hilarious in retrospect*
Had a prior experience with props/objects flying out of my hand/offstage so thankfully I did not panic! Hahaha...managed to finish the performance in one piece.
Also, a small incident after show that happened while leaving the place had me a little pissed off.
While crossing the road to meet the boyf, I walked past an indian man and heard him say "Hey, sexy!" It pissed me off because he was relatively well dressed in shirt and pants and looked like a guest from the event! But, I could be wrong....I hope I am. Still, I am rather put off. Shall not say any more.
And with this, it's goodbye to Ye Shanghai and Cha Cham Bo! I had fun!

Don't worry, I can help.
Random titbits of the day
(Note:Can save someone's life ok!)
(Note:Can save someone's life ok!)
First Aid on a choking patient
*Victim is holding on to his neck and has difficulty breathing, speaking and coughing*
You: *run to victim* Are you choking???
Victim: *nods vigorously*
You: *Pat his shoulder* Don't worry, I can help.
-you absolutely have to say those lines okay!-

From here, you go behind the victim and wrap your arms around his abdomen and give upward thrusts! Remember, UPWARD! Do not stop until victim stops choking or until the ambulance arrives.
disclaimer: author is repeating what she learnt at the course. forgive if any discrepancies in technique....
**********
After one and a half weeks of EARLY morning classes and rehearsals added on to 8 hour first aid courses plus rehearsals and theatre courses at night....I am officially falling sick. HAHA
Does not help that the training centres are all freaking blardy minus 10 degrees freezing cold! Three layers of clothing and still not enough.
And so the "falling sick over holidays" trend is back again. Have to try to prevent it. I will not allow myself to be ill over Chinese New Year!
Gonna go pop a few panadols and go work on choreography. It's a non stop cycle!
P.S. The Muscle War performance item is looking good dancers! Keep it up!

Resolutions 2009
Just as well, since I'm signed in and updating. Shall post up my New Year Resolutions for 2009 as well...as a reminder to myself with my readers as witness hahaha...
1. Secure a long term ongoing dance class at a dance studio.
2. Earn a minimum of $4k each month. If I don't hit it one month, I make up the next month!
3. Go for dance training in US/Japan and return before the end of 2009.
4. Get my splits down flat on the floor by hook or by crook. Meaning I have to be able to split comfortably and not only after running 10 rounds.
5. Spend quality time with family and the bf.
Okay, 5 for now. That's gonna take quite a lot of effort already.
Happy New Year!!

Jam packed
Been feeling super restless and anxious for no reason the past 2 days. I sleep and wake up several times in the middle of the night and I just sit up in bed, half asleep, thinking that there are things I have to do. Quite unsettling. Not sure if it's PMS or just stress from trying to fit everything into my work schedule without exhausting and killing myself.
Taking a technical theatre course at esplanade from today to next wednesday. 630-10pm every weekday night. First aid course 8am to 6pm next tuesday and wednesday. Still teaching schools and having rehearsals for Studio Wu open house, Muscle War and A Dinner Event.
Still trying to fit in more schools. I think I might really kill myself once NUS classes and Rehearsals kick off as well....woo hoo!
Well, I think the working hours quota that I set for January, February and March have almost been filled already. Probably exceeded.
Yenlin, you are not alone! HAHAHA...
Now, to find time for family and the boyfriend. *Pulls hair*
