Breathe

I just thought this up.

"Dancing is like oxygen. Without it, I'd die."

So, if people ask me why i keep on dancing, or better yet, when i start questioning myself on what the hell I'm doing or why I'm still dancing...I'd repeat this phrase to them and to myself. That is how much I love dancing right now, right this moment.

Until there comes a day when dancing is no longer my oxygen, I will keep doing it. Be it whether I'm doing it professionally or as a hobby when my joints no longer support me....

Keep Breathing, girl....

The Carnival has closed

The Carnival is over. Hope you enjoyed the show!

A job well done, dear performers and crew! We had our fair share of heart attacks, technical malfunctions and amusing misadventures eg. me cue-ing for stage lights before marcus could remove all the props and he was caught on stage while lifting the chair off stage in a super unglamorous way..i apologize marcus! =P)

I received plenty of good reviews for my item and that has just really given me a HUGE amount of encouragement...It was very unexpected because I personally felt there were other stronger items. The only thing I needed from my girls was neatness, presence and feeling like a complete showgirl! So, in view of all the good comments, I think they pulled it off and did me proud! Thank you girls! I love you all very much!

Super Bonus encouragement: Ryan came for the show on the 2nd night and Sophia introduced me to him because he liked the item and was asking who the choreographer was!

Cindy's emotional item review
On the topic of strong items, I personally loved Cindy's "Traces of Love" piece. As I am not a trained contemporary/modern dancer, I love to watch modern pieces. I admire the technique, the body and space explorations, the expression of feelings and emotion in modern choreography. It is something I am still trying very hard to learn.

Last night, even though the dancers were not professionally trained modern dancers, they took the item and made it their own. I watched it from backstage through the side curtains and I still felt the powerful emotions that came out as the dancers melted into the choreography. That was the best run I saw ever since they started rehearsing it. MZ was even crying during the performance, that was how much she put herself into the role.

Once again, great job!

And so, back to my daily life rantings.

Yes...Horror week is finally over. It ended on a slightly low note because the post show Halloween Party we went to was not too great. Had only 7 hours of sleep the past 2 nights and was pretty exhausted but I was looking forward to some drinks and good music to relax myself and have a little fun with the dancers, but! the place was filled with scantily clad teenyboppers all trying (they couldn't make the grade....really.) to grind each other and thinking they were really hot doing it. We finally kinda just gave up and sat in one corner watching the very amusing free show.

Anyway, we took some pictures! Here's a few.

Tina the Vamp and me the wannabe but failed terrible vamp!

Alex the Cowboy.
Check out Micheal Jackson behind us!
*It's James btw*

Now to recuperate and fight my flu so I can go and take more dance classes to improve myself further! I would love to go for a Movie and Shopping as well.....haven't had the time at all!

Happy Halloween!

Thank you for Thursday

Had a day off today so me and Mom brought Dad for early Birthday Lunch at NUS Suntec Guild House. His birthday is this Saturday and sadly I'm fully packed that day from 11am all the way to most probably 4-5am, so we celebrated earlier! I thinks me is going to buy a cake for him tomorrow and wake him up at 12 midnight to blow candles! hee hee.

Managed to squeeze in one dance class tonight. Went for Bryan's Latin HipHop class...was good. Really needed to move to get motivated for my own Saturday classes. Shall start on choreography tomorrow afternoon.

Was encouraged by Bryan's comments tonight. He said he could see much improvement from me as compared to before I went Japan and also when I just returned from Japan. My direction for now will be in the form of continuing to work hard the rest of this year.

To Bryan, don't be too stressed and low morale-d ok? You are an amazing and totally wonderful dancer, never lose heart! You just need a charger to recharge your batteries! =)

*Hint: New york, New york! We pia until then! Big Hugs*

Killer week

Man...this week is a killer week~

Teaching early in the mornings at 8am, Helping out with the Jitterbugs DAP Graduation Show and Choreographing for classes will leave me pretty stoned at the end of each day.

*Dang, I cannot go for any dance classes this week! Grrrr...*

I might be too busy or washed out to make major decisions this week, so to people who need me to decide certain things....I will sit down and think the questions through and give you all a reply next week okay?

I'm going for Halloween at Red Dot Museum AND Zouk this saturday! Any friends want to join in? Loads of people will be going! I am going to attempt to dress up as a sexy vampire.....(hope my attempt succeeds!)

Yes, I know I said I won't be clubbing for a while....It's true! I will stop for a while after this Saturday! It's Halloween afterall.....hahhahaha

Okay, time to hit the sack!

New hair

I did my hair today!

I left everything up to my stylist to decide haha, the only point i stressed on was that I wanted my hair straight and still long.

He did this for me.

1. Straightened it to iron out those unruly waves
2. Coloured it a chocolate brown
3. Cut two blunt layers and added a heavy fringe

So now, I look like I have a short bob cut, yet if you look again, I still have long hair! Two layers, mwahahah...I like!

A trip to Phuture

I'm wasted.

Had 2 lambhorginis, 2 lychee martinis, a B52, shared a jug of long island tea, 1 jug of vodka ribena and finally succumbed to an additional cup of vodka ribena near closing time.

The night started out slow but Phuture got really crowded by the time 12am hit. I felt like one of those sardines packed into a can! The crowd was really crazy but music was so so. The DJ played a lot of radio hits. There were a few favourites that were definitely good though!

I think the slightly excessive alcohol tonight made me say certain things which i think i should not have said and also brought me some "unwanted trouble"....let's hope it doesn't get too troublesome! I was high, ignore whatever comments and promises I made ok? I cannot fulfill them neither do I want to get sued for defamation!

Some things happened again tonight that reminded me of past events. I looked at the calender and realize once again that the date was October 13, exactly 1 year already. Luckily it was not a Friday. I think October 13 is not a very good date for me to go clubbing. =P

Righty then, I am gonna crash now~~~

Happy Birthday Funky T and Jen!! It was a fun night!

Purpose

Our purpose is not a thing, place, occupation or title.
Our purpose is to be.
Our purpose is how we live life, not what role we live.
Our purpose is found each moment as we make choices to be who we really are.

Needy

I sucked in Ryan's lyrical HipHop class today! I looked and felt super nua! Really need to keep working on it!! Bleah! Times like this, I feel like such a mediocre dancer. Maybe even less than mediocre even! How to make it like this?? Everything looks dim and I feel worthless during times like this...

I need more baggy tee shirts, long sleeve pullovers and baggy sweatpants!
I need to get my hair fixed, it's a mess right now.
My complexion is really baddddddd.
I look like an outright mess.

I always bash myself down and then painfully crawl back up!! *Repeat cycle*
Need to look and feel good. Need to get better in dance. Need confidence. Need strength! Need to do so much....

I wonder if I will just decide to drop down one day and never get up?

Hmm....question existing?

I'm not making sense.

Red or Pink

I suddenly have this urge to straighten my hair, cut a straight fringe and dye it a deep auburn red. I wonder how I'll take to red hair....

Alternatively, I could just straighten, cut the fringe and add pink extensions to my current ash brown hair. Less chemical damage.

Shall go ask around for opinions =]

Friday October 13, 2006

The day a part of me crashed.
I just realise now that day was a Friday the 13th...
Believe it or not.

I'm being a melancholic little bitch. Oh well.

Must not slack off!

I skipped two days of dance classes and I ate a lot!

Must not slack off. Must not slack off.
Must not slack off. Must not slack off. Must not slack off.
Must not slack off. Must not slack off. Must not slack off.
Must not slack off. Must not slack off. Must not slack off.
Must not slack off. Must not slack off. Must not slack off.
Must not slack off. Must not slack off.

Wake Up Tiger!

"In a world dominated by rational goals and common sense, we have not only forgotten to listen to our heart, we have forgotten how to listen to our heart. In other words, our Tiger is asleep. This blog is dedicated to waking up the tiger in each of us."

~Richard Sauerman~

I have just added this new link to my blog.
Chanced upon it from my dance friend's blog and it is inspirational, heartening and very interesting. Check it out if you have the time.

It's time to wake up the tiger in all of us!

N.Y. HipHop

Off with my braids! Yes I just took them out.
Shall let my hair recover for a while and after that it is on to my next hairstyle....
What funky style shall i try this time?

Anyways, I went for Sheila's N.Y. HipHop class today and it was very challenging to start picking up a new style. It was good fun and I had a really good dance workout today because I went for Bryan's J/K Pop as well. However, I think my stamina dropped a bit since I returned from Japan. I need to keep working on it long term!!!

So, if anyone wants to go Sheila's classes with me on Mondays, just drop me an SMS.

I love those shoes!

I went to discountdance.com and saw this delicious pair of dance sneakers from frontline.
I so WANT to buy it.
It's US$67 which is pretty reasonable but the shipping fee is US$50 which is like almost the same price as the shoe already....so I don't know if I SHOULD buy it.
Dang!

They are so funky!
I can wear it for jazz AND hiphop!
How How How?
